Whether you're a professional stonemason, builder, or homeowner embarking on a construction project, quality building stone forms the foundation of lasting structures.
At Loughrey Stoneworks, we supply premium natural stone sourced and crafted to meet the demands of Irish construction, from traditional boundary walls to contemporary architectural features.
We stock an extensive selection of natural building stone to suit every project requirement and aesthetic preference. Our range includes both cut and random stone options across multiple varieties:
Each stone type offers distinct characteristics in colour, texture, and finish. Galway building stone remains among the most popular choices for its versatility and natural beauty, while limestone continues to play a significant role in modern Irish construction.
Selecting the appropriate stone depends on several practical factors. Consider these key points when browsing our collection:
Limestone building stone offers excellent workability and a refined appearance, making it ideal for both structural and decorative applications. Kilkenny limestone provides a distinctive blue-grey tone, while sandstone delivers warm, earthy colours. Brown sandstone remains a timeless choice for those seeking traditional Irish aesthetics. Granite building stone offers superior hardness and weather resistance for demanding applications.
Cut stone arrives in uniform dimensions, simplifying installation and creating clean, contemporary lines. Random stone offers natural variation in size and shape, perfect for traditional stone wall construction and rustic finishes.
For those planning a wall project, our guides on building a stone wall with style and traditional Irish sandstone wall techniques offer practical insights.
